About NeurogesX

NeurogesX is a San Francisco Bay Area-based biopharmaceutical company focused on developing and commercializing novel pain management therapies.

Our lead product, Qutenza^® (capsaicin) 8% patch, is a dermal delivery system containing a prescription strength capsaicin. Qutenza was approved by the in U.S. Food and Drug Administration in November 2009 and by the European Medicines Agency (EMEA) in May 2009.

In addition to Qutenza, we are developing NGX-1998, a non-patch liquid formulation of the same active ingredient (capsaicin) used in Qutenza. NGX-1998 is being designed to treat certain neuropathic pain conditions such as postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) and has completed three Phase 1 studies.

Our pre-clinical pipeline consists of two pro-drug programs in which we modify the chemical make-up of well known, currently used drugs to improve their safety, efficacy and/or potential usefulness in the treatment of pain. We are currently seeking development partners for these programs.
